Why maps matter

Accurate maps are fonts of essential information for any politician, professional, or person to really understand the information found in their communities. They are essential to understanding the issues in our communities.

Politicians have used this understanding of maps to benefit themselves for years. They carve up communities to dilute votes. They select which people they are going to represent rather than being selected by the people to represent them.

For the last 8 years, utahns have wanted fair electoral maps, and the republican super majority has pushed against that time and time again. They have tried to re-write lawful legislation and tried to sue and tried to belittle and demean voters. All to keep their power.

I have a background in geography and know the importance of a functional, fair, and truly representative map.

What I'm going to do:

I will fight for fair maps every day. I will show up for my community to be represented by someone who was chosen by them.

I will fight legislation that ignores the voice of the people.

I will support and sponsor legislation that will reinforce fair mapping practices and will break down gerrymandering.
