Conservation and Restoration of the Great Salt Lake as an Obligation not a PR Opportunity
Conservation and Restoration of the Great Salt Lake
The health of the Great Salt Lake is tied to the economic and physical health of the entire population of northern Utah.
We have known for years that the Great Salt Lake needs rapid intervention for the health of the state and the population. As new information on the situation of the Great Salt Lake is brought to light, the need for intervention is made more and more clear. Heavy metals in the lake bed that could be lifted in dust clouds.
Endangered waterfowl losing their nesting grounds.
Essential resources for our snow pack.
All of these pose a risk the to population. It is time to make actual change.
Recently the conversation has gotten more and more prevalent in the media and the Legislature has talked about considering taking action. The Winter Olympics are coming here after all.
The health of the Great Salt Lake is more than just a PR opportunity. It is our home. It is the lifeblood of our water supply. We need real action.
